MCAFax House Record

MCAFax's own calls are the daily Top Trades picks (18 logged so far). They are short-horizon picks, so they are scored on the Day Trading and Options scoreboards, not here. MCAFax has no long-term calls yet.

Methodology

  1. Source. We log public calls from X accounts we track into the MCAFax Market Calls database: post link, time, ticker, direction, and for options the type, strike and expiry exactly as stated.
  2. Starting price. The last close at or before the post time, so a pre-market post cannot take credit for that morning's move.
  3. Win rule. A long-term call wins if, 180 calendar days after the post, the stock beat the S&P 500 in the called direction (merger arb: at deal close). Calls younger than 180 days do not count yet.
  4. Separate scoreboards. Day Trading, Options and Long-Term are scored on their own horizons. A call counts on one scoreboard only.
  5. Ranking. A caller needs 15 scored calls in this category to be ranked. Order: win % (out of 100) plus average edge vs the S&P 500, each call's edge capped at +/-50 points.
  6. Top Trades status. Long-Term status is shown for reference; Top Trades uses the Day Trading and Options statuses. With 15+ scored calls, a caller is positive if the shrunk win rate (wins + 5) / (scored + 10) is above 50% and the average edge vs the S&P 500 is above zero, otherwise negative (consensus only). Fewer than 15 = building. Positive and building callers can put a trade on Top Trades; negative callers only add a 0.15 consensus bonus (0.50 max in total) when they agree with a positive caller and never subtract. Status is recomputed every trading day, so a caller whose record turns positive regains full weight automatically.
  7. Refresh. Rescored every trading day after the close. Nothing is estimated; a call with no price data is left unscored.

Questions readers actually ask

What is the MCAFax Long-Term ranking?

A scoreboard of investors we track on X, based on how their public long-term calls turned out.

How is a win decided?

A long-term call wins if, 180 calendar days after the post, the stock beat the S&P 500 in the called direction (merger arb: at deal close). Calls younger than 180 days do not count yet.

Why are some callers not ranked?

A caller needs 15 scored calls in this category before we rank them. Fewer than that is shown as building track record.

Why separate Day Trading, Options and Long-Term scoreboards?

A trade meant to last a day and a thesis meant to last six months should not be judged on the same clock. Each scoreboard uses its own horizon.

What does the Top Trades status column mean?

Positive: 15+ scored calls and a shrunk win rate above 50% with a positive average edge; can put a trade on Top Trades. Negative (consensus only): 15+ scored calls but not positive; adds a small bonus when agreeing with a positive caller and never originates or subtracts. Building: fewer than 15 scored calls; votes at the baseline-shrunk weight. It updates automatically every trading day.

How often is it updated?

Every trading day after the close, before the next morning's Top Trades post.

Does MCAFax score its own picks?

Yes. Each day's Top Trades picks are logged as MCAFax calls and scored with the same rules, misses included. They are shown in a separate house section and never ranked against the callers.

Is this investment advice?

No. MCAFax tallies public calls by other people and reports the results.
